THE CLUB
TGAC is a non-commercial
swimming club of young boys and girls that was set up and is managed by dedicated parent-volunteers
with the services of full-time coaching staff. TGAC seeks to provide a well-balanced and best
training and development environment for its swimmers. Its members range from kindergarten beginners to
accomplished swimmers in junior college levels.
HISTORY
PAYSC was formed in 1974 by a group of parents who approached the People’s Association
to form a swimming club with the objective of promoting swimming among the youth. In 1998, PAYSC came under the
purview of The Grassroots' Club. PAYSC has established a tradition of excellence in swimming and in its three decades
of existence, PAYSC has successfully produced national champions and swimming greats such as Junie Sng, Joscelin
Yeo, May Ooi, Sng Ju Wei, Thum Ping Tjin, Christel Bouvron and Nicolette Teo.
MERGER
A
notable event within Singapore's Swimming club family was
marked in mid-June 2007 when two renowned swimming
fraternities merged. Each with its stable of swim talents,
the People's Association Youth Swimming Club (PAYSC) and
Singapore Swimming Association Branches (SSAB) merged and
formed a new body, The Grassroots' Aquatic Club (TGAC).
OPPORTUNITIES
TGAC has much to offer to young swimmers and parents who love swimming, and much effort is made
to ensure that all swimmers enjoy fair opportunities to train daily and to take part in various
levels of competitive swimming meets. TGAC provides the opportunity for families passionate about swimming to get together to pursue a common interest in swimming.
Parents participate actively and get involved hands-on in the organizing of swimming activities and events for their children.
Our swimmers enjoy a balanced and wholesome program that combine swimming excellence with friendship and family activities.
The club is known regionally and has associations with many swimming clubs regionally such as in Malaysia and Japan
JOIN US
TGAC welcomes everyone to join its membership where the only requirements are a love
of swimming and a desire to excel. You can enquire with our Executive Officer whose number is found in the
Contact Us page, or better still, drop by at the pool to observe our
training sessions and have a chat with the parents, who can tell you many reasons how their children benefit
from competitive swimming. |
